I know most POTS suffers have low blood pressure but my blood pressure actually rises on the tilt test. My heart rate goes way up but my blood pressure goes way up as well its more controlled now that I am on clonodine my BP is controlled but my heart rate still goes above 30 points when I stand up although it does slowly come down but its never normal and I still have bad orthostatic intolerence and horrible tremors, some Doctors have told me I can't have pots because of my BP going up and other Doctors have told me I have pots this is so confusing UGH. Thanks Michelle
Thanks Marie,
That would be reat if you find it.

I think in science each advancement spurns the creative application of knowledge. Hopefully these innovative approaches further research into other practical ways to modify our bodies responses. If I find the article on hypotension research which I think was just before one of our infamous winter power outages here I will certainly message you. I too find all these possibilities exciting to think about! Marie
Wow Marie!
Thanks for the link...that is truly amazing stuff. I would love to see how it would work with hypotension because that is what I struggle with. I wonder if the electrodes could also send impulses that would trick our wacked-out autonomic system into NOT driving our blood pressure down? I would think it's possible!

Sometimes implants are used with diabetics to help balance their glucose so using implants to control levels in the body isn't new but this application definitely is a new concept. At the University of Rochester Medical Center they have already done some implants. Here is a video so you can learn more about it. In this case they are using it for hypertension but I read another article weeks back about research into using an implant for hypotension. So yes, really! :) I think this is truly hopeful news.

I agree with all here, faith and hope go a long way! Marie
Happy New Year everyone!
I am so grateful to have this group. Here's wishing all of us a healthier 2011. My resolution for the new year is simply, "Faith."

I will ALWAYS have hope :) Implants really? I wonder what in the world that could be all about?
That's a great resolution Beema...I don't make them generally but the closest one I made is to get better rest on the weekend.

A very Happy New Year to all of you full of love and laughter, better health and quality time spent with good friends, family and pets. Here's to advancements in understanding our health issues and more ways to balance all in our lives.
As for hope, may it grow with knowledge of things to come. On the horizon in research is the new drug northera by Chelsea Therapeutics, I think mentioned before by Heiferly, that is in the testing stage right now. It has the ability to increase norepinephrine by decarbonylation both centrally and peripherally. Also down the road a bit farther horizon is the use of implants to control both high and low BP. Advancement is also being made on ways to treat the flight-or-fight response that raises heart rate. So hope grows! Marie
Stephanie, Happy New Year! And the same to all on here. I wish everyone of us could find that miracle cure in 2011! We can always hope.
My resolution is to try to keep a positive attitude.
