Both legs hurt entirely front and back

by pofdog, Jul 12, 2007 10:46AM
I will try to keep this short.  Had microdisectomy 1993 L5S1.  Lived with new injurys since 2001 told I had DDD, disk protrusion L5S1, buldging disk L4L5, severe arothopy(sp).  Injured again Sept 2006.  Large herniation L5S1 compressing thecal sac, buldging disk L5L4, DDD.  Had laminectomy Feb. 20 2007.  I was worse after surgery and now had pain going down BOTH legs.  Within 2 weeks post-op,could hardly walk again.  Had another Mri  6 weeks post- op that showed a NEW herniation L5S1, and the buldgeing disk L4L5 was just "slightly" larger than the previous MRI, and DDD.  2 days AFTER I had the last MRI that showed the new things, I was hurt again just riding in a car, slowing down and turning I felt the pain start L5S1 and then continued to stab up to the middle of my back and then felt pain and paralized about 10 secondes up through my neck.
I understand why I have pain in the back of my legs even though I don't understand why the pain is in both. Either does the doc.  We haven't had another MRI because of insurance and I was to see a surgeon for the new injury and a 2 level fusion.  Anyway, the pain is SEVERE in BOTH legs, as if in my entire legs, not just the back.  Like severe tooth aches, and pain also in the front of my legs.
Has anyone experienced this and what was the outcome?  I am on dilaudid that help great, but the problems are still there.   I also have DDD in a cervicle area also that was noted back in 2001, but not since then because it seems they just look at where the symtoms are, and I didn't have these symptoms as severe untill the injury 2 days after the MRI.  A
Any insight into this would be appreciated.  The reason my family doc. hasn't ordered another MRI is because we know I need to have a fusion and the surgeon will take care of all that. Meanwhile, I am fighting the state just for medicaid and help, as well as social security.  I was denied both intialy even though I can hardly walk and I am getting worse.  JUST FRUSTRATED.
