Lower back pain radiating down right side of buttock down right leg

I hurt my back at work about 4 months ago, they told me i had a lumbar and thoractic sprain,  i had an x-ray and an MRI which only showed degenerative disc disease.  Since then Ive had severe pain in my right side of my buttock which radiates down my leg.  Could there be more to this than what they are telling me..No new x-ray or MRI since this pain in my buttock.

It could be Piriformis syndrome. That is where your sciatic nerve runs through your piriformis muscle. When there is spasms or pressure on the muscle it can compress the nerve and cause pain that starts where the muscle is (buttock) and runs down the leg. Piriformis sciatica is present without a spinal cause. It may be worth looking info
