MRI OF THE LUMBAR SPINE WITHOUT CONTRAST RESULT
PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT IS THIS... THIS IS MY MRI RESULT.

FINDINGS:
THERE IS MINIMAL RETROLISTHESIS  IDENTIFIED OF THE BODY OF L4 IN RELATIONSHIP TO THE BODY OF L5. THE LUMBAR VERTEBRAL HEIGHTS AND MORPHOLOGY ARE WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS. THE PARASPINAL MUSCULATURE IS UNREMARKABLE. THE CONUS MEDULLAS IS WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS IN MORPHOLOGY AND LOCATION. MILD DEGENERATIVE CHANGES OF THE SPINE ARE SEEN.

L1-L2: THE INTERVERTABRAL DISC SHOWS NO EVIDENCE OF PROTRUSION O SIGNIFICANT BILGING. THE SPINAL CANAL AND NEURAL FORAMINA APPEAR GROSSLT PATENT. NERVE ROOTS EXIT WITHOUT GROSS COMPROMISE.

L2-L3: THE INTERVERTEBRAL DISC IS DESICCATED AND SHOWS BULGING WHICH EFFACES THE VENTRAL THECAL SAC BY 4MM. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF PROTRUSION. THE PATENT AP THECAL SAC DIAMETER MEASURES 10-11MM. THERE IS RATHER SYMMETRIC NARROWING OF THE NEURAL FORAMINA. HOWEVER, THERE IS A RIGHT PARACENTRAL ANNULAR TEAR EVIDENT. THE SPINAL CANAL APPEARS GROSSLY PATENT. NERVE ROOTS EXIT WITHOUT GROSS COMPROMISE.

L3-L4: THE INTERVERTEBRAL DISC IS DESICCATED AND DEMONSTRATES BULDGING WHICH EFFACES THE VENTRAL THECAL SAC BY UP TO 4MM. THE PATENT AP THECAL SAC DIAMETER MEASURES 9MM. THERE IS SYMMETRIC NARROWING OF THE NEURAL FORAMINA. THERE IS NO PROTRUSION. THE SPINAL CANAL APPEARS GROSSLY PATENT. NERVE ROOTS EXIT WITHOUT GROSS COMPROMISE.

L4-L5: THE INTERVERTEBRAL DISC IS DESICCATED AND DEMONSTRATES BULDGING WHICH AFFETCS THE VENTRAL THECAL SAC BY 5MM. THE PATENT AP THECAL SAC DIAMETER MEASUERS 9MM. THERE IS A COEXISTING RIGHT PARACENTRAL TO FORAMINAL PRTRUSION WHICH PRODUCES MASS EFFECT UOPN THE THECAL SAC AT THE EXPECTED LOCATION OF THE ORIGIN OF THE RIGHT L5 NERVE ROOT. THE L4 NERVES EXIT WITHOUT GROSS COMPROMISE.

L5-S1: THE INTERVERTEBRAL DISC IS DESICCATED AND DEMONSTRATES BILDGING WHICH EFFACES THE VENTRAL THECAL SAC BY 4MM. THERE IS NO PROTRUSION. THE PATENT AP THECAL SAC DIAMETER MEASURES 8MM. THERE IS MILD NARROWING OF THE NEURAL FORAMINA BILATERALLY. THE SPINAL CANAL APPEARS GROSSLY PATENT. NERVE ROOTS EXIT WITHOUT GROSS COMPROMISE.

IMPRESSION(S).
1. RIGHT PROTRUSION OF L4-L5.
2. ANNULAR TEAR OF L2-L3.
3. DEGENERATIVE DISC DISEASE OF THE LUMBAR SPINE WITH MULTILEVEL VARYING DEGREES OF FORAMINAL STENOSIS AND MILD SPINAL CANAL STENOSES.
4. GRADE 1 RETROLISTHESIS OF L4 ON L5.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Hi there!

The report describes, minimal backward displacement of L4 vertebra with mild degenerative changes.
At L2/ L3 the intervertebral disc shows desiccation with prolapse, causing an impression on the outer covering of the spinal cord and narrowing of the spaces that carry the spinal nerves.
At L3/ L4, the intervertebral disc shows desiccation with prolapse, causing an impression on the outer covering of the spinal cord and narrowing of the spaces that carry the spinal nerves.
L4/ L5, the intervertebral disc shows desiccation with prolapse, causing mass effect on the outer covering of the spinal cord and possible exiting nerve root compromise.
At L5/ S1, the intervertebral disc shows bulging, causing an impression on the outer covering of the spinal cord and mild narrowing of the spaces that carry the spinal nerves.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
