Must do a back bend!

I was diagnosed a few years ago with spondyloarthropathy (arthritis of the spine).  After complaining to my primary care physician about my neck pain, he did blood work and saw spotted something or another, I can't remember what.  He then sent me to a rheumatologist who diagnosed me.  The rheumotologist was unable to locate the arthritis on the xrays, but said that my blood work is what "confirmed" it.

I've been on prioxicam for about 3-4 years now, but more often than not, am "uncomfortable".  During the day I'm constantly hyperextending my neck/back trying to relieve "pressure?"  (if that's what it is that I'm relieving).  At night I must lay on my side and in a back bend position in order to get comfortable enough for sleep.

Could there be something else going on here?

I would sure like to know if this is something I can do something about.

Thanks...

Hi

I have the same problem. Your medication is probably not working for you. I agree with flutter that you should either go back to your rheumatologist and if he/she does not do anything find a new one.

Go see a new rheumatologist, get a second opinion! There's alot of newer drugs out which work well for this condition. Pilates, physiotherapy & hydrotherapy sessions are all recommendedongoing treatments.
