I got into a car accident in 4/09 and in 7/09 I had a ACDF done in C4-5. Today I still have severe pain on the back & right side of neck w/numbness on both arms & left shoulder pain. I already had 3-cervical epidural injections and still I'm in severe pain & discomfort. I have to sleep reclined because when I press in back of my head it hurts like crazy! I have an MRI just done 1/13/10 and it states: c4-c5: There is predominantly right-sided uncovertebral spurring causing obliteration of the anterior subarachnoid space w/out impression upon the cervical cord but causing moderate narrowing of the right aspect of the spinal canal. This also causes significant narrowing og the right central canal and bilateral neural foramen. The left neural foaramen is well maintained.
c6-7: There is disc osteophyte comlex, slightly asymetric to the left, causing mild narrowing of the cervical canal and bilateral neural formina.
c6-7: There is a mild disc bulge, asymetric to the right w/out significant central canal.
I will not see my spine surgeon in 3-weeks because he's on vacation. I need if you can translate this in laymans words please! I feel like my nack has been hit w/an AX or machete. It hurts that bad! What can be done. Would I need surgery? I have been i & out ER's due to this pain.
