i recently had a second MRI regarding chronic lower back pain. I understand i have two bulging discs, L4 and L5. but what i don't understand is what the MRI report really means and why surgery isn't an option. I have tried all conservative methods, incl hydro, gym, walking, chiro, physio, traction, accupuncture, heat/cold, NAIS (about 10 different types) pilates, etc. the MRI says at L5S1 an asymmetric left sided broad based disc bulge with a superimposed paracentral annular fissure minimally posteriorally displaces and minimally impinges traversing left L5 nerve root. Needless to say i have fairly constant sciatica pain in my left leg but i don't really understand what all this jargon means. This second MRI shows a marked worsening of the condition to the one i had 12 months ago. Can someone help please.
