c7 Neck Fusion Surgery

My husband has c7 spine fusion surgery in January, 2010. He at first felt wonderful, but now months later, he cant sleep well. Has to  use a heating pad while watching tv and when he goes to sleep every night & when waking up. He now has had swelling above his left eye near forehead area with bad headaches. We are wondering if anyone else with this surgery has noticed this? He gets the headaches 2 to 3 times a week. The swelling isnt bad, but it is noticebly somewhat swollen near the eyebrow. Curious if anyone else has these symptoms and what they do for relief.
