2nd test caused some pain on the outsides of my wrist , stiffness really . But no numbness or tingling
Try Tinel's test. When the front of the wrist is gently tapped with the index finger, it may cause tingling or pain in your hand if you have carpal tunnel.
Another is Phalen's test – bending the wrist fully forward and holding it there (60 seconds) produces tingling or numbness in your fingers if you have carpal tunnel.
If these test are positive, consult a doctor to rule out or confirm the findings.
I hope this helps! Take care!
Thanks for the advice and I can see how those things would help , although my biggest issue is holding scizzors since that is my job and I can not avoid doing that . I was wondering if maybe there was an underlying issue such as carpal tunnel that might be causing it that my dr. overlooked.
Hi there! If this is related to osteoarthritis of the fingers, you need to avoid tight gripping. For writing, wrap your pen with foam for an easier grip. For drinking, use a mug and wrap your hand around it for a larger, more stable grip. Cups with dainty handles are difficult to hold. Choose kitchen utensils with large and soft handles as these are easier to grip. These are just some examples on how to prevent tight gripping to prevent worsening of the condition.
I hope this helps! Take care!
