l4 l5 disc bulging

my wife had pain in the lower back. in the MRI it was found the disc betweeen the L4 and L5 is slightly bulging and mildly touching the nerve. is there any treatment for this. is there any permanent remedy for this. can it be cured without operation. she cannot take pain killer tablets as she is alergic to most of them.

It depend...I suggest you to try inversion table which is good for bulging disc....if it's doesn't work,you should go to another doctor for second opinion.Take care!

I have the same problem and I've been dealing with this pain for over a year now. I was in a car accident though. If she hasn't already, I would suggest her going to a physical therapist, accupunturist, or even a chiropractor. All of these things can help. I've done a number of them, and my pain is being stubborn. Core strengthening helps too by doing yoga or palaties (sp?). Epiderals or Facet injections, if the pt doesnt work may be another step to take. Epiderals are usually injected into the disc with a steroid to help with the inflamation. It can help to decrease the pain.
