middle back pain

I am a 55 year old female with a cronic (chronic) lower back pain. Two years ago I woke up to a terrible pain in my mid back that made my body real stiff. My doctor requested an MRI and the result was a 2mm "mass" inside my 7th vertebrae. I was then refered to a neurologist who "didn't know why I was there" and promised to call me back after studying my films. She never called. Last week I had the same symptoms and went back to the doctor and he gave me Norco and Soma for Muscle spasms. He did remember the results of the MRI but did not make a comment. If the pain continues, he will request another MRI. The pain is gone while I take the medication but can work while I'm taking these pills. I've been out of work for a week. Should I worry about it and  get a second opinion?
