Sounds like a pigs breakfast. I hope you get this straightened out.
If you signed a controlled substance with the last doctor, make sure that you call to cancel it before filling an Rx with your PCP.
Best wishes.
Thank you for your feedback I tried to tell the doctor and then nurses
They told me I need my doctor to change my meds I called talked told them what the nurses said and asked for the to change my meds one lady said no problem your on such a low dose I don't see a problem then a mother lady came in asked a couple questions and left to talk to my doctor he never came in to talk to me after calling after hours he told me to call & come in and I did and he never came to my room to see or examine my pain. I've seen him once when he switched me from what my primary doctor had me on and told them after the 1st procedure that something was wrong and still nothing so I'm going back to my primary in the morning to see what my other options I'm not going back there I'm 100%worse then I started
Yes, during an RF ablation procedure, a good doctor will have you woken up so that you can confirm the needle placement. This hurts, because they are finding the nerve that causes your daily pain.
But it sounds as if you were under medicated during the procedure. This happened to me once, and I let the doctor know that I felt and heard everything that went on in the room during my procedure. When he did the other side, he made sure that I was comfortably anesthetized and I was not aware of anything except when they confirmed placement of the probe.
It is common to feel pain after an ablation procedure for up to two weeks. Ice the back, and use pain meds as directed. Sometimes use of a strong muscle relaxant helps reduce this post-procedural pain.
It takes a new pain doctor some time to get used to your response to medication, which depends on your opioid tolerance and your metabolism. Eventually a good pain doc will find the right medication mix for you.
I can only share that in my experience, a month after the RFAs are finished, I feel about 50% better than I did before the procedures. For me, they reduce half of my back pain, and specifically, they reduce the sharp, stabbing pain of facet syndrome.
Hopefully, you'll experience a similar result.
Best wishes.
