i've had back surgery almost a year ago and still feel tightness at times in my hamstring.  I continue doing "nerve" exercises to keep it from scarring where the surgery was.

I had surgery 8 years ago and I still have no feeling in the back of one leg from nerve damage.  I had considerable more like yourself and it went away.
