upper back and jaw/neck/arm/ burning pain

Hi, i have multiple (four herniated) disks in my lower back,, but for about the last six months my upper back.. between my shoulder blades has been killing me.. An xray should "some swelling",, but they kinda blew that off",, the MRI showed nothing... For the past two months every so often,, my arm hurts and at times my hands tingle.. Now for the past month my jaw and neck have a burning pain and now a "tight" pain,, that is getting more frequent.  I am also starting to get very anxious with all that is going on.. I keep thinking I am having something wrong with my heart??? Don't ask why my heart,, I have had two EKGs,,, both normal and went to a heart doctor and he did a stress test and said I was fine... I am starting to think I am just crazy with a bad back :).. any help would be so appreciated.  I have a consult with a Neurosrygon on May 4th about the whole thing... I am only in my 30's with a two year old daughter who I have to pick up 20 or so times a day,, so that doen't help.. I need some advice... ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much,
Chrissy

Hey try drinking water when you have that pain. If it subsides, have they do an upper GI to see if you have a hiatal hernia (sp?) you get a sharp pain in the center of your back between the shoulder blades and the symptoms of a heart attack. Stress brings this on and you will start having severe indigestion when lying flat on you r back.

I have a lot of pain (TMJ, neck, shoulders, upper/lower back... then we got the hips and knees...), and I see a psychologist regularly to help me with my struggles through the medical system. Won't help the problem, but you need to learn to cope with what you have too. What I've learned is that, even if someone cannot help solve the problem, you still have yourself to keep pushing yourself along, and you need to try to be the best you can be!! Things such as:
- good eating habits, balanced
- sleeping well, regular sleep habits
- regular exercise
- multivitamins, possibly calcium/vitamin D for calcium absorption/bone loss prevention,
- doing things everyday that you enjoy and love
- attempt better pain control
     BY: increasing exercise
            meditation/yoga
            journal writing
            stretching/isometric exercises
            acupuncture/massage/craniosacral therapy
finding the stressors and PREVENTING THEM FROM HAPPENING

The worst thing you can do is to mope around and do less with your day. Keep getting out there and living your life. I know how pain can hold you back, but I find once I get up and do something I feel better than I did if I just lied in bed all day-- I'd just feel worse. Make it routine. Write a journal about how you feel, what makes your pain levels worse, better. Treat yourself to a nice bubble bath with candles. You have to learn to relax and decrease your anxiety, because **news alert** anxiety makes pain WORSE and its a vicious cycle!!! (here I am axious about surgery on my jaw (my jaw has the worst pain) and I can't sleep, everything makes it worse, I'm emotional and moody, and I get more nervous... but the more nervous I get the more I get pain. I hope you are able to pull your pain by the horns and can go on with your day and live your life.

I wish you all the best finding a good practitioner that will listen and take your pain seriously (I've had a few issues there), and that you are able to have a decrease to your pain.

Good luck!!
Dana

Hi,
Was the MRI of your neck? You state you have 4 herniations in your "lower back" I assume lumbar area?  If the MRI was not of your neck, you need to get one of your neck to check for any injuries in that area.  Burning and tingling are neurological symptoms due to something.  If it was an MRI of your neck and showed nothing then I would go and see a neurologist.

good luck
