Back Spasms and Pain

Over the past three weeks I have been suffering from back pains in which I dont know what to do. I went to my orthopedic and he stated he thought i needed to see a urologist. I have pain that is radiant in my middle to lower back on both sides of the back bone. THe pain rises up and down my back, I cant exactly pinpoint the root of the pain. A month ago I gave up gatorade and went to strictly to water after two weeks my wife bought me a huge insulated mug for work and I started drinking 2 or 3 liters of Dr. Pepper a day. I have never really drank soft drinks until then and never used coffee or tea. The orthopedic told me to stop with the caffine and go back to gatorade or water. This immediatly within a day stopped all the pain and three days later the pain resurfaced. I had some pain pills left over from hand surgery and this subsides the pain for a short period of time. Within the last three days the burning sensation of urination has started but there is no blood present. It is getting to the point where I have to lay on the hard floor flat on my back with my legs elevated at work to make the pain weaken.

I am also getting pains and spasms in the back of my thighs. I really dont know which direction to go toward to get this problem resolved.

I am use to some pain in my back caused by IBS but it is a minor issue that I have learned to deal with.

Headed to the urologist and the gastro Dr for the 2nd time tomorrow. I went to the urologist 3 weeks ago and he did a urine and blood test and stated everything seemed in line. He did not show me much attention he did not even feel where my back hurt and I was having muscle spasms at the time. Needless to say using a referred Dr tomorrow.

Have you looked at things like kidney, liver or gall bladder problems? Sounds like it could be a kidney problem, they can cause back pain.
