Back pain with narrowing of L5

Back in December I fell down some cement steps, a little time latermy back started to hurt, a mild pinching sensation. It started hurting worse when I stood or sat in a certain way. Sitting in the car turned to torment. I went to my doctor, and he said it was a possible broken spinal process and gave me some anti-inflammatories, well this pain continued on for 3 more months and I returned to the doctor, we said possible congential problem or scarring (I had a severe case of spinal meningitis when I was a baby) so I was told to get an x-ray. The x-ray only said that I had narrowing of the L5 vertrebra and partial sacralization of the left side, and it sounded like this was very common and doesnt create this amount of pain. The pain is now a pinching feeling that started in my back and has moved down into my hip; can anyone help me figure out what is wrong?

welcome to the forum kvoshall,
You need an MRI to find out EXACTLY what is wrong with those discs! It sounds to me like you have what I am suffering with..herniated lumbars discs with the lower disc pinching the sciatica nerve! Your primary doctor should send you to a pain management doctor or spinal specialist so that the proper tests can be ordered and the proper medication can be given so that you are not suffering in pain! I know that before I was given proper treatment and the proper medication that worked for me, I was suffering and it was just getting worse with everyday! I am now on time released morphine and although my back is inoperable, yours may very well be operable!! Please call your primary care doctor, tell him you are not getting better and ask him to send you to one of these specialists! Since there is a nerve there and you say there is a "pinching sensation" it sounds as if the nerve IS being pinched!!
Good Luck and please keep us updated!!
((hugs)) precious
