C6-7 Fusion problems

After 10 years of increasing pain from my C6-7 fusion I am wanting advice on options. I have been extremely reluctant to find another Neuro surgeon after my first bad experience. After the surgery I lost my voice due to nerve damage to my vocal cords which I have only regained the limited use of one cord. In addition my swallowing is not normal and my pain never went away. The sergeon has since retired and I dont know where to start to find the very best to help me. Mayo Clinic or the  Lazer Spine Institute? Any thoughts on who and what can be done?

Before I went shopping for a good surgeon I would get as much info from home I could. Have another M.R.I. to see whats going on. I've had 6 separate fusion on my neck and understand the problems associated with this. You could have hurt another level adjacent to the last fusion. Your last surgery 10 years ago, that is the amount of time for a new level to degenerate, according to my doctor. Sounds like you surgery was a success and you doctor retired, maybe some young new hot shot took over and he's right there in your back yard. But for me I only lasted at the most 2 years between ruptured disc, Now I say I have R.P.D.D.D, Rapid Progressive D.D.D. I also have swallowing problems but no voice problems. The scar tissue is my problem with swallowing. Does you insurance allow you to go anywhere, mine don't. You may be stuck with what they have to offer and we don't have the freedom to go anywhere. If you do your really lucky, and use it to the fullest. Keep us posted.

Hope I Help
