Hi,sorry to konw your suffered,Is it all right now?
It is a common misconception that back pain stems from the pressure of a slipped disc or a trapped nerve.  This is misleading, the cause of pain is inflammation stimulating nerves, causing the pain signal.so after op,patient still have little inflammation, that need take time to heal.take care!

So sorry to hear what has happened to you, I know you suffered a lot before the surgery. Maybe the ache has come back because what you had operated on was not the reason you ached in the first place? I am not trying to be negative here, and have NO MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE whatsoever when it comes to back surgery removing fragments, but I have heard that people have more than one thing going on in their body. The doctors may assume it was the fragments that were causing your leg pain, when perhaps it had nothing to do with it. On a more positive note, maybe your legs/back are aching because they are trying to heal. Also, maybe they weren't hurting for 5 weeks because you weren't doing anything to aggravate the pain? I hope you find somebody to help you and give you the answers you need.
Again, I am very sorry Claire.
