Muscle spasms

Hi !  I been around the pain mngmt. forum mainly but figure i try this and see if somebody has any answers. I had a accident 5 yrs ago and still have problems with my lower back. I sustained a compression fracure on L1-T11 and i still have severe muscle spasms on my left side lower back muscle. I tried pretty much everything as far as painmeds. and muscle relaxers but no luck. I'm getting to used to the Norco's i take and get depressed when on Percocet so i dont know where to go from here. I see a Pain specialst but have not had any luck with him. They tell me that my back is crocked and that the muscles are doing what the spine is suppose to be doing. I cant sit to long or stand to long because that triggers the spams. Hopefully someone has some insight in to this. Thanks, F1

Thanks for your post. The PT did deep massage on me and had some relief but it only lasts for about 1 hour max then i have the same pain back. Like you said that it was not enjoyeable i know what you mean. The meds. have been my crutch so far but i think they are turning on me. I dont get the relief i once did and my mind and spirit is changing. I feel that i tried everything it's been around 5.5 yrs now so i'm feeling very down. Anyway thanks for your post and hope you come out better with your fusion. F1

After my surgeries for fused neck and spine - t5-6 I was dealing with nightmare shoulder spasms. I know it's a different area, but I've found relief and hope it might help you. At first  I lived on pain meds until a new doctor told me I had to see a physical therapist. (It wasn't covered by insurance.) It would help briefly but  pain would kick back in fairly quickly. After about 14 years (I can't believe it was that long) a friend got me a massage for a gift. This woman is so amazing that she has given me unimaginable relief! I see her weekly. It's not enjoyable, she basically attacks the spasm with pressure. But it worked for me. I've had massages before that were spa-like and not at all what I'm talking about. If you can find some SERIOUS medical massage, it may be worth a try. It's better for me  than meds, than physical therapy with their heat, electrical stim etc. Good luck!

My Neuro surg. told me i have a stable fracture and put me in a brace for 3 months which i think is pretty normal after that he told me i was healed and he did not need to see me again. No PT or nothing so he was not very good to me. I been to 3 different pain mngmt. clinics but all they wanted to do was injections and PT. The PT never really help and i also been to Chiro. recently but that did not do anything. I tried different muscle relaxers Soma,Baclofen,Flexeril but no results so i'm a little lost. Anyway thanks for your post, F1
