Numbness well after microdiscectomy

I had my first L4/L5 microdisctomy in 1989. Went 23 years symptom free. Was digging out my foundation when I blew out same disc. Had second surgery in 2013. Well after the first surgery started to get foot numbness. More in left foot than right, but some in both. Left foot numbness is in toes, on bottom, and creeps into ankle. I'm a hiker, so this is an issue, as it affects balance. Anyone else get the numbness well after surgery? As a note, I do get a partial return of feeling from aggressive hamstring stretching. Thanks in advance....
