Hello,
I am a 38 yo female mother of 4 with chronic back pain. When I was 20 I discovered I had spondylosis/spondylothesis.
My lower back was bothering me and after treatment subsided. When I was 35 my lower, upper and middle back started hurting to the point where I could not move. I could not turn my head and if I stood up my back would spasm so bad my legs would want to give. Because my major complaint was my upper back and neck my doctor ordered MRI's of my cervical and thoracic spine only. It was determined I on my neck I had 1. Mild R C 3-4 bony neural, foraminal compromise. 2. Mild R C 4-5 bony neural foraminal compromise, minimal narrowing indicating early ddd. 3. Small central and left paracental disk herniation C 5-6. 4. No evidence of right sided herniation. On my thoracic back it was determined I had a 1. Tiny HNP to the R at T 6-7. 2. Tiny HNP to the L at T7-8. I tried all kinds of NSAIDS and cortisone injections. I did get better but never healed as I was. I still have chronic pain. It has changed my life!!!
I recently went to my doctor because I have developed other problems. I have a soft tissue lump in my arm. I collection of fluid in my ankle and now a new x-ray report of my back I do not fully understand. I am hoping someone just might here. I have to wait several weeks to see the neuro surgeon I am being sent to so it would be nice to know what degree I should be concerned. Any feedback would be considered. I understand this is a forum and is only for discussion. I know this isn't a doctor visit. So please if you know what the following all means shed some light.
New Xrays taken last week (not MRI's, Xrays)
Findings: of Xray lumbar spine 4+views. Mild dextroscoliosis. Moderate disc height loss and osteophyte formation at L5-S1. Pars defects at L5-S1. 3mm anterolisthesis of L5 on S1. Mild straightening of the normal lumbar lordosis which can be seen with muscle spasm. Interpretation "Impression" Bilateral pars defects with suspected associated bilateral neural foraminal narrowing. Minimal anterolisthesis at this level. Further evaluation of the pars defects and possible pinched nerves could be done with MRI. END-
Findings: of Xray cervical spine 6-7 views The lateral cervical spine is seen to the superior endplate of T1. No fracture or malalignment. Straightening of the normal cervical lordosis, which can be seen with muscle spasm. Soft tissues are grossly normal. No abnormal movement with flexion and extenstion to suggest ligamentous instability. Possible mild degenerative change at the C 2-3 facets. No other significant degenerative change. Impression: 1. Straightening of the normal cervical lordosis, which can be seen through muscle spasm. 2. No significant degenerative change except possibly at the C 2-3 facet.
Thank you to anyone in advance who responds. Best luck to all of you who suffer from back pain.
