Please advise, back pain/injury just got scary

Hello, I'm 27 years old and have had back pain off and on for the past decade I'd say.  My father has a history of back-pain.  I usually tweak something in my back once every year or two, which causes me major pain and makes it difficult to twist/turn/bend or sit in comfort.  I usually just tough it out and it slowly gets better over the course of 4-5 days as I take it easy and apply heating/colling to the area.  This is usually lower back pain.

Well, I'm in the midst of a stretch like this now.  My back started hurting (after a hard workout the day before) on Wednesday.  I had to miss a day of work.  But it was slowly getting better.  I woke up today (Saturday) and didn't have near the same pain as the previous days, though it was still painful to put on socks/shoes and do other normal activities.   However, tonight, I think I may have injured it for real.  This sounds a little silly, but I was trimming my toe-nails which was obviously very difficult given my lower back pain.  I had to sit on my bed and put my back to the wall so that I could reach my toes without straining my lower back too much.  However, in the middle of it, I heard/felt a pop in my upper back and immediately felt pain and stopped.  I now have pain in my upper back (under the shoulder-blade) as well as my chest area (under the clavicle) on the right side.  Really concerned as to what could have caused this or what could have happened.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Is your clavicle ( winged out ) or protruding? have you had issues with the rotator cuff in the past? Is the area swollen?  You need to be seen by a Dr. and diagnosed. Good luck. MaritimeFox

It sounds like you might of had a rib pop out. Is this a stabbing type pain?
