What is a Pineal Cyst?

Several years ago I visited a neurologist expressing that my neck was painful and possible other issues associated with neurological disorders. I was given a CT ( not sure if that is what can see inside the head) and told there was a very tiny cyst located above the spine where spinal fluid "sits". The cyst apparently is/was floating around and there was a theory by the doctor that perhaps the cyst could possibly move at times causing the issues or it was simply nothing because it was benign. I moved out of State and mentioned this to my physician who sent me back to the neurologist, a different one of course. This time the Dr. and two other of his interns looked at the slides and laughed. They said it was nothing at all and again laughed. I did not think it was funny at all.
Because of the second experience I don't mention it to my doctors anymore. Do I have reason to be worried or concerned? Could the cyst have grown? Are people that have had cyts in other parts the body prone to have cysts in other places as well? I had ovarian cysts also. They caused a great deal of problems to the point they had to be removed even though they too were benign.

Thank you for the information. I have been having headaches and wonder if it has grown in size. Appreciate the comment.

Nice information….Pineal cysts are benign (non-cancerous) fluid-filled sacs located in the region of the brain that contains the pineal gland. Small pineal cysts (.5 cm or smaller) are common occurrences, often found incidentally on routine neurological exams. Small pineal cysts rarely cause symptoms (asymptomatic). Symptoms may include headaches, increased pressure on the brain because of accumulation of excessive cerebrospinal fluid (hydrocephalus), and vision abnormalities. Thanks
