neck and shoulder pain

i have had shoulder and neck pain for the past 3 years. initially it was less but became very serious that things on my right hand dropped just like that and had the neck region swollen. i was given pain killers by the doctors. i had gone for physiotherapy sessions which were very painful. they suggested accupressure and i attended the allotted sessions and had a lot of relief but the pain has returned very severely. kindly suggest me the needful steps to be taken.
i am a house wife and do all the house work on my own. i used to stitch during leisure times.

You had a swollen neck- did they do any diagnostic tests to try to determine the source of the swelling?
  
Have you had any MRIs or other diagnostic imaging done?
  
Did they do any cardiovascular testing, such as a doppler of your carotid arteries in your neck?

  Did they do for the dropping with right hand problem any EMG (electromyelogram testing of your muscles in the affected arm) testing?  (See private message.)

Next, did you go back to the doctor and tell them you need to be in an ongoing pain management program, that you were getting help from the allotted number of acupressure sessions, but that you need ongoing treatment for better pain control?

My docs told me that back and neck pain can stem from the aging of our spinal discs. Maybe you have some stenosis which can pinch nerves and cause pain. At least that's what I've learned!

thank you for your time. I was undergoing some tests and they said it was a compressed nerve in the neck region, docotrs have not refferred for MRI though i suggested for. About the Carotid artery testing they have not looked into. will surely suggest one. thank u for the information again. will get back to you with the responses.

What testing did they do that determined you have a pinched nerve?  Please do keep me posted!
