burning pain

Dear Dr. Charles, in 2001 I was dignosed with a soft tissue mass at the brain stem/spinal cord, loose bones at c1c2 after surgery on at the back of neck and one through right side under ear, I was left in severe pain to the right side of head/face, hands, lower outside right leg and chronic nerve damage.  Then in 2006 will flying to spain I suffered severe pain accross my leftside of chest.  After a 10 day stay I was dignoised with herniated discs at T7 to T11 also kpysos stenosis, since then this sometimes causes burning pain down and across middle of back when I put a bra on it seems to be pressing on a nerve then I get the pain accross my left ribs. In august 2008 I was fitted with a nerve stimulator to the main nerve right side of head,  I abut due to medication neurotin 900mg 2 times a day also oxycontin 20 mgs 2 times I am woken at night with burning pain on both my knees this has accured since I had a fall in March,  my left knee suddeningly started paining and giving way then swelling at the back and front of knee, going up and down stairs or bending down very painful with swelling. this swelling is not there in the morning, but is there at night it also appears like bony pain in both lower legs also at the calf area of left knee. Any advice or opinion please help.

Cora Brooks,
Ireland.

many thanks for your comments I am arranging to see my consultant next week, I will post on neurosurgeons forum if there is one.  But because of the problems I was having with my back I thought it may have come from this. again thank you.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Dear Cora,

The brain stem is part of the brain and sounds like this mass there created many problems for you.  Treatment of brain problems is the main training and expertise of neurosurgeons and not spine surgeons.  I’m sorry I can’t be of more help.
