Bad cramps days before depo is due?

I've been having the depo-provera injection for over a year now, and my periods have stopped but around a week before I'm due to have my injection I get bad cramping. My nurse has shortened the amount of time I have between my injections (it's meant to be 12 weeks but I have mine at 10) but I'm still getting the cramping.

Is there any way I can reduce the cramping?
