Breast fibroid and birth control?

I just started birth control, but read on package that you should check with doctor if you have had breast fibroid...I don't KNOW that ihave , but have had pain off and on for years in left breast...which I figure could very well be a fibroid... I have had exams done by doc on breast and they've never mentioned any findings...why would fibroids be associated at all with pill?
