please help! It's 6 days til my period would usually start, but yesterday 1-30-13 Wednesday, I had brown gooey discharge and now today I have my period... i haven't even finished the active pills yet! you mentioned lifestyle changes can effect a woman's menstrual cycle right? well all i can think of is the diet i've been on for 3 months now. I've lost 13 lbs so far, but i was 160 when i started and for most of the three years i've been on the bcp i've been between 135 and 145, now i weigh 145.8 So i'm wondering if the diet is why i've been having freaky period symptoms for the past two months? My mom suggested the pills aren't strong enough or that I may have a cyst or something, Please respond, I don't know what's happening and i would really like to know. Also in the first week of the pack i missed a pill and took two the next day, could that have caused it?

Hi,

High level of stress, cholesterol, hormonal imbalance, chain smoking, dramatic changes in your life style may be some of the common causes of you irregular periods.

If this was the first episode of irregularity in the periods, then wait for the coming cycle and try lifestyle modification by reducing stress and decreasing cholesterol levels.

Hope it helps. Regards.

thankyou, my period is now very heavy it's been four days (started on Sunday) now it's Wednesday. I've been feeling sick to my stomach, maybe it's cramps? I usually don't get cramps, but I've been taking the pills pretty regularly with 25 or 26 hrs of eachother... Thankyou for your feed back! It's good to know there's nothing wrong with me. Is there anything that woulda caused it to come so soon?

Hello,
Usually bleeding starts within 3-4 days of stopping the active pills but sometimes it can start early also. There is nothing to worry as long as you are taking the pills regularly.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing
