Period a day late, on ortho tri-cyclen lo

I am one day late on my period and I am on Ortho tri-cyclen lo. My period usually comes every 28 days. I have been on this pill for about 8 months now and I have only missed three dark blue pills but that was last month and I've had my period since then. I spotted two days before my period and then had my period. I had protected sex four days before my period was due but I'm late so now I am very stressed out. I also have been working out a lot almost everyday so I've been wondering if I need to take a pregnancy test or if I shouldn't worry too much and wait.

Hi there,
If you have been taking the pills regularly and have missed it last month  it should not affect you. Usually you can miss one day and take two pills at the same time and still be protected. Late periods can be due to stress, anxiety, loss of weight etc.Hormonal imbalances, ovulation dysfunction are few other common causes of irregular periods. Take a balanced diet and adequate rest. Consult a gynecologist and also rule out pregnancy though the chances are unlikely. For more queries and assistance it is advisable to visit a gynecologist. I hope it helps.
Best luck and regards!
