Pregnancy Prevention

I've been on birth control (ortho tricyclen) for two months now. Last week me and my boyfriend had sex on 20th but my cycle ended on the 18th. He pulled out because we didn't use a condom but I took the plan b contraceptive the same day some hours later. Am I ok for the most part?

If you have been taking your birth control amazingly, no antibiotics, no missed days or freakishly late timing- you're highly covered (98% usually). Added to that fact he didn't fully ejaculate, and the effectiveness of the plan b- I'm going to say you can sleep easy. That is a very very small chance you got pregnant.

Keep in mind the plan b is likely to have some side effects. These include nausea, headaches, back pain, bloating, cramps, fatigue, etc. It can also really mess up your period for a month or two- so don't be too freaked if you start experiencing these symptoms or your period arrives really early, lasts a while, doubles up, or is late.

If your period is more than several days late, take a pregnancy test with your first morning urine. But like I said, don't freak out if it is -because plan b is a lot of hormones and can mess up a body's normal flow.
