emergency contraception during period

Hi.. I had unprotected sex during my period (3rd day) and he ejaculated inside of me. Even though it was during my period I panicked (it was the first time someone did it inside) and i took an emergency contraceptive pill (Ipill). After that my period has not stopped, today is the 10th day. it is light but I just want to confirm that taking the pill is the reason it hasn't stopped yet..

thank you so much! yes, i've actually taken it before too but never during my period. the previous times my period was delayed and a bit heavier in the beginning. and my PMS was worse but i didn't have mid cycle bleeding. i know i "probably" didn't need to take it, but i agree! probably isn't good enough! i'm actually in med school (yes, i know, that makes me an idiot for doing it in the first place. i know.) so i do know about basal body temperature and all that. this was just the first time i had ever had sex/taken the pill on my period so i panicked thinking about all the hormones floating around in my body. thank you again you definitely calmed me down!!

I have taken this type of pill a number of times and that didn't happen to me. But I don't remember taking it while I had my period. I got mid cycle spotting however. Every woman is different. Did you get a leaflet with the medication? Have you read all the possible side effects? I'd think it is perfectly ok but if it continues or if you are still concerned I'd talk to a medical professional. Where I live pharmacists also give good advice and info for free. Perhaps that's an option for you.
You probably didn't need to take the pill since it was so early in your cycle, however, I think you did the right thing as sperm can live for several days inside you. I had my doctor tell me I probably didn't need to take it. When it comes to matters like this "probably" isn't good enough!
Unprotected sex, even when he doesn't ejaculate can result in pregnancy (and STIs). Unless you want to face something like that you should never have unprotected sex. Some people are very fertile and can get pregnant very easily! Have you ever heard of basal body temperature charting / FAM? If you are interested in accurately predicting your fertile window you should read up on this subject.
Good luck and enjoy safe sex in future! STIs can be worse than an unplanned pregnancy!

That is most likely the problem. I took one once and I had a longer period not 10 days however I am on birthcontrol. But I also cramped alot more than normal. If It continues longer I would call the obgyn and possibly go see him/her. Hope I was of help.
