If you have been taking your birth control pills every day, exactly as directed, then pregnancy should not occur.
The spotting and bleeding however, is not leftover eggs coming out. It may mean that the hormones in the pills may have to be adjusted so that this does not occur.
You don't say what type of pills you are on, but some are more prone to causing breakthrough bleeding and spotting than others.
You should see your health care provider and talk about the spotting and bleeding. If you want reassurance that you aren't pregnant, take a sensitive home pregnancy test using a first morning urine. Your doctor may also test you for pregnancy. But keep taking your pills for now, and see your doctor to determine if you need a new type of pill.
