Changes with Mirena Coil

My mirena coil has been in place for 6 and a half years.  Once the initial spotting cleared up I happily had no periods at all.  All of a sudden I started getting a monthly cycle again about 4/5 months ago - very light - when I mentioned it to my GP she wasn't really interested, but I thought it was odd for it to start again after 6 years, my pms was bad also.  Then in August I didn't get a period and again I haven't this month.

Has anyone else had this coil for this long and had anything similar.  I know I'm not pregnant.  I am nearly 40 and come from a long line of women who have early menopause.  Could this be what I am experiencing.

Really need some advice on this as my GP is just not interested.

Hi, I had always been told they lasted 5 years but my current doc seems to think they can be changed every 10 years!! Makes me wonder whether she hasn't factored in that the progesterone in it runs out by 5 years.

Shall have to discuss getting it changed to a new one like you suggest.

Thanks.

I was under the impression the effectiveness of mirena was five years, the hormones may be wearing off, I would get it switched out for a new one.
