I pulled my own out after a shower when I was really relaxed. It was mid cycle and I had absolutely no pain. Removal bleeding started the next day and lasted for 4 days very, very heavy. Yes I was very grumpy on and off for two weeks but the benefits were wonderful. I concieved about 3 weeks after removal.

The best time to take the IUD out is the last day of menstruation. But you can do it safely any time.
