Norplant removal

Hi I've had the Norplant for 3 years and I'm getting it switched out tomorrow and was wondering how they do that. Do they do an exam on your vagina first? And is the removal basically painless like when they put it in?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there!
During the procedure of Norplant removal the local area is anaesthetized first. A single incision is made at the base of array of rods. Another slit may be done in the base of each pocket and then the rod is pulled out. You may feel slight pain and pressure. If the implants are stuck deep it may take a little longer. At the end of the procedure the incision is sutured which can be taken out in 7-10 days. It is best to get the procedure done by a gynecologist who is an expert in surgery. Allay anxiety and talk to your doctor before the procedure. Do write to us again on how you are doing.
Best of luck!
