The Pill CAUSED my period????

So i was taking Minastrin (sp?) last month and all was well up until the last week when I started spotting. Well because of my insurance I had to switch to Ortho Tri Cyclen this month so i decided to skip the brown placebo pills so i could "skip" my period, but on exactly Day 1 of Ortho Tri Cyclen it made me start my period Full on! I am on Day 3 and still have my period...... ugh!!! I thought the Active pills were going to stop my spotting since Ortho Tri Cyclen is actually strong, but instead its made me have a full blown period!!!

Anyone know what could be going on?

Well, you switched from a monophasic pill to a triphasic pill, so it might take your body some time to adjust to having varying levels of hormones instead of having a consistent level as you did with the minestrin. Also, with ortho tri cyclen, I'm pretty sure the lowest level of hormone level it's that first week, then slightly higher the next week and then the highest level the third week before the placebos. So it looks like you had a breakthrough bleeding issue, which is totally annoying but not all that surprising.

Could just be because you switched types of birth control, and your body isn't used to it.  I wouldn't say the Ortho caused your period to start.
