this is terrifying!

I have two sons and a daughter on the way. I'm 21 and just now got my ged! Money wise we are ok even with this future addition:) BUT I don't want to get pregnant again. I was on the pill with my second son and this baby.. taking my pill at 11am everyday! So how I ended up pregnant I'm not sure. I'm either TOO fertile or like I tell my boys you were brought into this world because you are special so do something special!! Anyways. I've seriously thought about getting my tubes tied. I'm so scared of all these different kinds of BC's and their side effects. I feel that maybe one day i will want another baby but not for at least another 5 years.. and I can't stay away from my guy that long;) but if I take a long term BC then what if it makes me infetile? I would be devastated to know that I made the choice to use something in my body to cause it not to be able to do its natural thing and because of me I won't be able to have another child when I was ready again and expecting it. I feel if I was going to make this critical decision should do it now and have my tubes tied after my daughter is born so I will KNOW I won't be able to have another baby vs. getting excited about it and not being able to or losing one because of my own choice! Idk if this makes sence but I need advice??!?!?

While tubal ligation can be reversed, it's not something to do if you might want to get pregnant again in the future.  Long term birth control will not impair your fertility.  The first couple months off it can be less fertile as your body readjusts, but within 6 months, you'll be as fertile as you would have been for your age anyway.  I think an implant or an IUD (either copper or hormonal) are probably the best choices for you, as they are the most reliable, and you should be using condoms or a diaphragm in combination with it so that you're doubly protected.

I agree with blucrystal. This is a very serious, permanent decision and who knows? Maybe 10 years down the road you want to add to your family again. There are various birth controls out there, and most of them do give off side effects. Make sure you research them through reliable sources and asks doctors honest opinion. I know that Mirena is being questioned because it has shown to perforrate the women's uterus. Think long and hard about it, would you rather deal with some side effects? Of get pregnant once more? It's your decision, choose wisely as to what YOU want. Good Luck!

If you are unsure, do not get your tubes tied.  There is reliable birth control, and you never know if you want another baby. :-)  Blessings - Blu
