Hi, this report is very complex and really something that your mother's surgeon , or oncologist, needs to first talk to you and/or your mother about.

If she has not yet seen an oncologist she will soon, I bet.

We can help you with a lot of things, and along the way, and also from personal experience, but we cannot  (at least I cannot) do the initial diagnosing and treatment suggestions.

Maybe someone else has more to say, sorry, kat

Your mother's cancer would be considered an aggressive  type, due to its being Grade 3, comedo type, and HER2+ (Cerb B2 +).

As Katatrina said, the  treatment planning in regard to your mother's specific case will be up to her tx team, who will know all the particulars of her case and her medical hx.

However, quite likely some type of surgery will be recommended (lumpectomy or mastectomy, depending on the details of her case), possibly chemotherapy ( depending on the size of her tumor, whether there is lymph node involvement, and what Stage she is dx to be in), and probably radiation.

She would not be a candidate for followup treatment with tamoxifen or an aromotase inhibitor since the tumor is ER- and PR-.  Pts with HER2+ cancer are usually treated with the targeted tx drug Herceptin, preferably along with chemo if  she has chemo, although outside of the USA Herceptin is more often given after chemo.

These are all just POSSIBLE treatment scenarios, and may not apply to your mother's case.

Best wishes to both you and you mother...

p.s. I could not tell from the title of your question whether you were wondering  if a mastectomy would be likely, or if she has already had a mastectomy...

As I mentioned, the above  are just general treatment possibilities for persons with BC cancer of the type described in the information you provided.

Hi,

As discussed earlier My Mother underwent surgery Rt. Breast.

Doctors have advised for Chemo & Radiation.

Will there be improvement in my Mother's Health after the treatment.

Thanks with Regards,
Pramod

Hi again,

How is your mother doing in recovering from her mastectomy? I hope she is coming along well.

I don't know  your mother's current health status (besides the recently diagnosed infiltrating breast cancer), but during chemo and radiation she will feel worse due to side effects (which can be managed with the assistance of her oncologist) and the general toll of these treatments on one's body. Unless she is very elderly or in poor health, however, she should be able to handle it. As discussed above, it would be considered necessary, due to the aggressive type of her cancer, and that is no doubt why her doctors are recommending this treatment plan.

I would not expect improvement in her general health after treatment, but depending on the Stage of her cancer, the intent of treatment would be to prevent spread or recurrence of her BC. In other words (depending on the particlar features of their cases) people opt to go through these rather rigorous treatments in the hope of saving, or prolonging, their lives.

Please feel free to write again if I have not adequately understood or answered your concern.  But, of course, her doctors would be the best source of information, since they will have all of the details of her case and quite likely will be performing additional evaluations to determine the Stage of her BC, etc.

Best wishes to you both...

Hi,

Thanks for Replying!

My Mother's Age is around 65 Years. My mother has recovering & if I compare with her last month health & present situation she is better. Earlier there was lot of swelling & itching problem.

My mother was operated on 04-10-2010 on her Rt. Breast. She will start with Radiotherapy this Monday onwards.

If i were to share her Histopathology reports  with you how could i do that?

Thanx & Regards,
Pramod

I am very glad to hear your mother is making a good recovery from her surgery.

At 65 or so,  if she is in reasonably good health, her age should not be a factor. Someone I know who is roughly the same age just went through many weeks of daily radiation with no problem. (She and her husband generally went to dinner after each treatment, as her "reward.")  You mother should just be sure to follow all of the instructions she is given closely, and may want to make use of prescription or other creams or lotions which, if recommended by her radiation oncologist, can be applied after each treatment to reduce dryness, irrritation, or burns of the skin in the treated areas.

The sharing of her histopathology reports with me would not be of particular value, because  in this forum,we are survivors and other volunteers, not identified medical professionals. If you have additional specific questions about the reports, you could post them in the Breast Cancer Expert Forum, or with your mother's permission, discuss them with her oncologist.

I think she is fortunate to have a son so interested in her welfare.
