These are the only side effects I could find:
the most common side effects seen with ARIMIDEX include hot flashes, joint symptoms, weakness, mood changes, pain, sore throat, nausea and vomiting, depression, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, swelling of arms/legs, and headache. Fractures (including fractures of the spine, hip, and wrist) occurred more frequently with ARIMIDEX than with tamoxifen (10% vs 7%).
As for the burning...I,personally,have never been able to use anything but Ivory. Allergies.
Most doctors or Ob/gyn's will tell you to never use soap in that area anyway.
As for the estrogen cream...it is a big no no while using Arimidex.
ARIMIDEX should not be taken with tamoxifen or estrogen-containing therapies.
What about penaten cream? Or any of those creams used for diaper rash, hives, etc?
The list above mentions pain, but it doesn't say where the pain may occur. Have you asked your Ob/gyn?
Hope some of this helps.
I have been on Arimidex since 2007 and have the same symtoms as you described,
I can't use any soap in the vaginal area because it stings too much, and use hypo-allergenic soap,
There are cetain foods I've learned to stay away from also because they cause increased burning: berries, citrus juice. There are others that you can also look up on the net,
My oncologist also told me to stay away from all estrogen and natural compounds. I've found that "Replens" sold at drugstores has helped with the dryness alot.
I'm very upset though with the painful intercourse, I used to love having sex with my husband, but now it's very stressful. I don't know what to do. My oncologoist is a male and it seems that he's telling me, "either risk the cancer coming back, or have sex".
If anyone else has some advice for me, please post.
