recent mammogram normal breast changes

I had a mammogram (both breast) and ultrasound 4 months ago for a lump in my RIGHT  breast.  Everything came back normal. I have 2 fat globules on my right breast.  A few days ago developed a red painful bump on my LEFT breast.  I applied Mupircorin on it, thinking it might be another biol or small staph infection, which I've had in the past.  The pain had gone away and so has the redness, but now I have a hard lump!!!  I tried squeezing it to see if any discharge would come out and nothing.  I am starting to freak out.  After I squeezed it I noticed little dimples (like orange peels) which I know could be a sign of breast cancer.  Can injure or sqeezing the skin hard cause this.  Can an infection leave a hard lump.  I am really starting to worry and I know I should bring this to my doctors attention. The only thing that is keeping me sane is the fact that it wasn't there a few weeks ago and I had fairly recent mammorgram done and an exam by my doctor. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Yes an infection can harden up like that. It it is an infection one ting you can try is holding a wet cloth as hot as you can tolorate and this will loosen it up enough to let you squeeze it out. It may take several treatments. I;m familiar with this because my late husband had places like this the doc had to lance it and put him on antibodics. It took us a week to get it worked out of his skin he had so much. So you might want to check with your doc and see if you need antibodics. Hope this helps.

I don't ever approve of treating something that you "think" might be a repeat of a previous problem. I think you should see your Dr. and let him/her have a look at this area .... perhaps an Ultrasound might be in order if the Dr. isn't sure as to what is going on. In the meantime I would NOT apply anything or squeeze the area. If the tissue contains some type of fluid the squeezing might have caused the dimpled appearence. Please have this ck.d out soon, OK ??
