8 year old with a very painful breast.

My daughter just turned eights years old today, anyways she has a mass the approximate size of quarter that is located directly beneath her left breast that moves slightly and is very painful to the touch. She just noticed it today, should I be concerned? Taking her to the doctors tommorrow but wanted some feedback tonight.

Hi,  as Zouzi has said, it's extremley unlikely to be cancer, I can't tell you not to worry bacause you will.  She is a very lucky little girl to have such a caring Mum.   Good Luck for tomorrow and I'll be thinking of you both.

Hi,
This  could be related to normal development and the starting of puberty. Some young girls develop fast and start very early to experience these changes.
It is very unlikely that this lump is breast cancer, but it's a good thing that you'll take your daughter to her doctor for evaluation and reassurance.
Best wishes to both of you.
