Abnormally high ALT (SGPT)

I'm a breast cancer survivor- 3 types - all stage 3 - with lymphnode involvement - chemo/radiation/tamoxifen now
almost 9 years later - all of a sudden my ALT(SGPT) has gone up to the HIGH level.
I looked back on all my bloodwork and this is the first time that it has been over the normal level.
What would cause this?    I'm not drinking any alcoholic drinks,  not taking any statins - but have been taking
Red Rice Yeast Extract capsules - which have lowered by cholesterol from 261 to 216.
This was not a fasting blood test.    What could cause this to be high this time?

Red rice yeast can cause elevated liver enzymes. See your doctor, but meanwhile don't panic, as the elevated ALT may not be related to your hx of breast cancer. Best wishes.

I believe only your Physician can answer your question regarding the change in your blood work. He/She knows your complete history and would be able to assess the situation. This could be due to any number of causes ..... wouldn't care to make a guess without complete history, physical and current exam.    Regards ....
