I am in the same situation as you are. I have a lump that everyone can feel but it doesn't show up on mammogram or ultrasound. I have had 3 different doctors review my case and no one seems too concerned (but I am!). My insurance won't pay for an MRI since I don't have family history or the breast cancer gene. I can't find a doctor to do an biopsy, since I have breast implants no one wants to do a needle biospy. Also they seem to feel a surgical biopsy is not necessary since there "isn't enough evidence". So what do they think the pea sized lump is then? They don't know, but tell me not to worry...
But I am worried and very frustrated that no one will help me.
I hope you have better luck than I am having.
Hi LH,
All I can say is...if you are not comfortable yet with the results tell your Dr. that you want him to do more tests. It can be an MRI or a needle biopsy. You need to be your own advocate. ONe thing to remember...we pay them, they do not pay us to be their patients. So...you do what is best for you and what makes you feel better.
Keep us posted and good luck.
Hi LH,
Can you still feel the lump? Did you follow up with your gyne and ask him/her? MRIs do provide additional information, but they can also indicate a lot of false positives. If you do not get a satisfying answer, you can always get a second opinion. Ask questions until you feel you have all the answers you need.
Warmly,
Chris
