Small lump that does not show up

I found what I thought was a very small lump under my left breast nipple at about 5 o'clock. I had a diagnostic mammogram with ultrasound done yesterday. While the ultrasound was taking place the technichian told me they did not see anything on the mammogram and she was not seeing anything on the ultrasound. She even let me look at the screen while she was doing the ultrasound - nothing. The radiologist came in and told me the mammogram is identical to that of last years and there is nothing showing up on films or the ultrasound and it looks great. Any idea what I could be feeling? Cound this be just my anatomy and tissue?

Thank you, that is what I am going to do for piece of mind. It is not cancer now but what if the cells are not normal and I can catch something very early.

Hi,
It could just be fatty tissue or rib bone pressing into breast tissue.I wonder if your doctor, upon examination, has also felt the lump, and what was his/her opinion.
Not all palpable lumps will appear on Ultrasound or Mammogram and if the Radiologist told you not to worry, then you probably shouldn't.However,if you are not completely satisfied with the answer given, then you could consult a Breast Specialist for a second opinion..
In my opinion,a lump is a lump and if you and your doctor can feel it,then it really doesn't matter what the mammogram or ultrasound show.
If needed, the Breast Specialist, could perform a needle biopsy FNA ( Fine Needle Aspiration) If it's a cyst,it will collapse and no further treatment will be necessary. If the lump is a solid one, the needle can sample it so that the cells extracted can be examined by a pathologist.A biopsy is the only way to make sure that the lump is harmless.
Best wishes...
