Thank you for your kind words. I am having to find much strength today as I was leaving tomorrow to go to a funeral for my uncle that died last Friday and got a call this morning that another uncle of mine died last night and the funeral has been put on hold for now . I know this doesn't have to do with my biopsy but it is my life right now and I need to be strong for me and my family
Your story is lots like mine. My mother also had a double in the 70s and it was horrible. But that was then and this is now. I had breast cancer 15 years ago and am doing very well these days. What is done for breast cancer has greatly improved. Yes it's hard not to worry but it's far from the end of the world. Try to stay positive. I know that your mother is in your mind....so was mine. I was sure I was going to die. But they did.. . and that was hard but we survive because of those who came before us. Lots has been learned from our mothers so we could live free from breast cancer. I know this is hard waiting but you will get through this. Your not your mother. Your her child who lives in a different time of progress and advancement for breast cancer.
Best to you
Well, everything may be fine but then again it may not. Family history is important BUT only a small percentage of diagnosed cases are related to family history. I would say that you are stressing out a bit early since you haven't had your biopsy yet and there will be plenty of "waiting" coming up even after the biopsy. It's OK to be scared; I doubt if there is one woman who hasn't had the same reaction. I think you may have answered your own question when you said that you need to find your own strength and faith in order to deal with the situation. Everyone deals in a different way from what I have read here in our Community but somehow we all come out on the other side no matter what the outcome. I believe that strength comes when you need it and I'm sure this will be true in your case. Faith of course is something that you either have or you don't so that will be yours to work on. Advances are being made every day in the various treatments for all the types of Breast Cancer so we all have reason to hope that one day there will be a cure. Until that time we all have to deal with whatever we are dealt and do it in the best way that we can. I've heard from countless women who have been surprised at the strength they actually had as things progressed ... I think that we women are a lot stronger than we think and I'm sure you'll find this in yourself too. Do your best, talk about it if it helps or keep it to yourself if that's what makes you the most comfortable. It's all about YOU now so "hear" what others say but you aren't required to "listen". Regards ....
