why did do they call back to do more mammogram test and breast ultra sound

I had a mammogram done and they called me back after they looked at my previous mammogram. They want to do another mammogram checking other areas, plus a ultra sound? Why

This is the hard part about breast diagnostics
A woman should never have to wonder why about anything --
when it comes to breast treatment~

However, they do not give diagnosis over the phone.
Usually an U/sound is done if the mammo doesn't give clear definition.
Hopefully- the US will determine that it is benign.

I can still recall that "call" many years ago. It was left on my ans machine
that I needed to come in to talk with a surgeon. [no mention of WHY]
This was the day of Christmas Eve and I never slept - until I got to the dr's office.

I spent Christmas thinking I was going to die but later was told by radiologist that I had DCIS - and it was non invasive--------I thought they could have at least waited until after the holiday .

Try to be calm - since tests are always necessary when clarity is an issue
At least cancer wasn't defined in the mammo.

Well, in my case they were a little concerned until they compared it to last year's mammogram and realized the earlier one was much like this one in the 'other' breast, that is.

When they see something that looks potentially abnormal, or if your breast tissue is very dense as well, and which prevents them from seeing much, they like to compare it to earlier mammograms.  it's also the reasoning behind having a baseline mammogram at 40 to see what your normal status is.

So, in your case, they may have notes dense tissue, (a example) but it wasn't there before. With an ultrasound you can see some things, like through dense tissue, that you cannot on a mammogram.

most likely, they have in mind a 'diagnostic mammogram' in addition to the baseline one they already did, and then the Ultrasound.

I understand that this makes you anxious but at thins point what they are doing is more routine and not because they suspect you have cancer, i think.
