Thanks so much for your reply, I just need some help. Im a bit nervous and Im not sure whats going on from now. Robin
Well, talk about being confused .... you need to have your films reviewed by a different Radiologist and perhaps have that Ultrasound that your own Dr. recommended. It is true that titanium chips are left in place to identify the area for future reference. I don't know that this means that it needs extra vigilant investigation though. Often scar tissue can mimic a new finding unless there is a chip there to identify it as an area that was previously biopsied. I think your Dr. should order the Ultrasound and let that be that. I can't imagine one Dr. overriding another's order. I stand by my opinion that is there is indeed a mass that was called a mass and not scar tissue then it needs to be looked at one way or another; even if it requires some type of biopsy. You and your Dr. keep looking until you find someone to do what is required. Good Luck .....
My recent mammogram showed a mass at the site of one of my clips and I was sent a letter saying that I needed to confer with my Dr. My Dr sent me to a radiology group for a sonogram. I was told I didn't need it by the radiologist because the clip is just a marker showing that the area has been looked at before, was benign and didn't need to be checked again. When I had the biopsy 7 years ago I was told the marker was to show an area needing to be watched and that both masses had been removed completely.
If you have a breast lump then it needs to be investigated by Mammoram, Ultrasound or Breast MRI. There is no such thing as a lump not needing investigation .... I don't care how many benign diasnoses you have had in the past. If this is scar tissue then it needs to be proven by whatever method is appropriate. See someone else if necessary but get some proof that there is nothing to worry about. Regards ....
