Fibrocystic breasts

Several months ago I went to the gyn doc with a "female" problem & while I was there I told her that when I was driving my arm would brush against my right breast.  When this happened my nipple would have strange sensations.  She checked it and ordered an ultrasound.
She said it was very cystic.
It doesn't hurt.  She found 4 sizeable lumps & for me to keep a check on it.  my mom had this disease (condition) for several years when I was younger.  She eventually had a masectomy when she was 28 years old.  I remember the numerous "biopsies" and procedures that led up to that point.
I try to do the self breast exams only to find that they're so lumpy I can't tell anything new or different about it.
I've been told by people that it can sometimes "mask" breast cancer.  My breasts don't hurt, sometimes they feel heavy but I'm curious at what point should I become concerned instead of hearing you're only 32 you don't need a mammogram yet.  Or don't worry about it it's not like it's cancer.

I also had your same opinion, my breasts were so lumpy that I couldn't tell one lump from the other.  My mammograms were as white as a newly laundered sheet.  The thing that docs want you to notice is.... do the lumps change?????  That is the big question.  If you feel ANYTHING different in the lumps, and trust me, you'll know different when you feel it.  Get to know your lumps, love your lumps.  Do the self-exam.  You are the first one to know when something is different.  Even if you are wrong, let someone know.  Then you'll know what's now normal FOR YOU.

Did you request a copy of your ultrasound results?  If not, do so.  See what the radiologist recommended. Ask what your BiRad rate was on the ultrasound. If you are still concerned, get a second opinion.  Good doctors welcome second opinions.
Consider asking the doctor to put in a mammogram for your peace of mind.  The radiologist can compare it to the ultrasound.  Cystic breast mams are hard to read though.  If your mom had BC, the doctor should be more proactive for you.  God Bless
