When To Return To Work

I had a simple mastectomy August 27, I'm feeling pretty good with the exception of some discomfort ( tightness) when I raise my arm.  I do some lifting at work.  I don't want to go back to soon, but I don't want to take advantage either.  I know I should ask my doctor when I see him in 4 days, but I was wondering what  anyone else did?

Thanks for the response, I am going to ask my surgeon this week about exercises.

Your Surgeon will advise as to when you should return to work; especially if you do any lifting. It takes several weeks for complete healing to take place but I'm sure you could return to work sooner than that. You should do some stretching exercises (with the Dr.s approval of course) to regain full range of motion in that arm but you should NOT overdo it. Assuming that you will have some additional treatment; this will also dictate when you could return to work. A lot really depends on the type of work that you do.
