HRT with history DCIS

Can I take any type of HRT after an oophorectomy if I had DCIS 3.5 yrs ago?

I have been advised to have a hyster/oophorectomy by two GYNs.  I have endo stage 3, multiple large fibroids, and ovarian cysts.  And pretty bad pain.  I am 42 yrs old and have no children (and not married or even dating, so this really *****).

I was dx with DCIS July 2006 and had Mx of R breast: Stage 0, ER+/PR+/not tested for HER2.  I took Tamoxifen for 22 months, but quit when I discovered I had an estradiol level of over 800.  I requested the blood tests because of crazy symptoms/side effects.  I have had my hormone levels tested 3 times since quitting tamox, and my estradiol levels are always a couple numbers above the high end of the range.  Also, the radical side effects subsided after d/c.
I don't know if tamox has anything to do with my menstrual issues now, but symptoms of mennhoragia worsened, even after d/c.

If I have maintained a consistent high level of estradiol naturally, and have had neg mammograms on L breast for 3+ yrs, can I take some form of HRT?

I did not have an oncologist because no chemo/radiation was prescribed.  That's why I'm posting this question.  PLEASE HELP???!!

Thank you for any reply, and thanks for this website!!!

Since your cancer was Hormone receptor positive I certainly would NOT take any type of hormone replacement therapy. That was the purpose of the Tamoxifen ... to block the production of the hormone that the cancer was dependant upon for growth. This would be a risk that I would not be willing to take. I wonder who prescribed the Tamoxifen since you state that you did not see an Oncologist. Actually a consult with an Oncologist at this time would not be out of the question to resolve the HRT issue. If you have the recommended surgery you would be classed as in Surgical Menopause and a different drug (other than Tamoxifen) may be prescribed. Regards .....
